The valuable step by Xorasan Seminary to improve research

Since research in Seminary is aged more than a thousand years, we can say here teaching and learning are born with research, and great Shiite and Sunni interpreters, Faqihs, Motekallems, and philosophers have always valued research.

With all ups and downs throughout the history, research has never been separable from education in Seminary. Imam Ali (as) says that anyone who does his best in looking for reality will definitely discover it, and this is an unchangeable sonnat.

Research is in fact a kind of experiencing and experimenting which means a person doesn’t just receive the thoughts and opinions of others but tries his best to find the reality, and this is invaluable since the merit of one’s thought is based on the amount of production and research he does.

As a matter of fact, research, like thinking, is a practical way to knowledge, and the proof gained in this way would result in power against the wily. There is no need to say that research is the main cause for utilization of one’s scientific resources, and unfortunately, lack of enough concern about this in Seminaries have not helped students make their effort in bringing about innovation.

Should we talk about the importance of research in Seminaries, we may refer to what Ayatollah Khamenei says: “undoubtedly, one of the most important thing the lack of which is sensible and the unstable position of which in Seminary is obvious is research and technology”. Therefore, research must be considered as an indispensable basis for all activities in Seminary, because the unbelievable speed of technologies and inventions these days has made research a vital part of Seminary’s body.

The word “Religion Studies” have correctly been used nowadays, and the populace must manage their knowledge to study the religion and strengthen the basics of Islam with their research. Being more exact, we can see that weak points of Seminary must be resolved and in this aspects, the administrators and the head of Seminary have the most significant role.

On the other hand, in order to reach their great goals, Seminaries must train young researchers, accept the proposals, smooth the way before the expert researchers, find the obstacles, and remove them in order to raise the level of research. As Ayatollah Khamenei declares, people can reach no goal without study and renovation, and it is absolutely correct that being away of research has no result but regression and getting unfamiliar with the surrounding world.

Consequently, Xorasan Seminary which has brought up adepts in Islamic studies, laying upon its glorious history, has obeyed the direct order of the head of Xorasan Seminary, Ayatollah Ameli, to focus on research-based and learning-based education, and because the departments of research and education have been distinguished under the new management, the syllabus for the inclusive research plan and the related bylaws has been codified with concentration on Ayatollah Khamenei’s intentions.

In this respect, schematization of students’ research, holding practical and research-based classes, research methodology workshops, teaching study skills, bulletin writing, criticisms, discussion, and …, hiring experienced teachers both in teaching and research, having someone in charge of research in each school and supporting them financially, helping schools to have periodicals and print students’ papers, holding festivals and research contests, being precise in hiring people in charge of research in order to employ those who are thoughtful and influential, visiting research exhibitions around the country, holding expos and providing financial support, having scientific meetings, founding research groups, training Islamic studies researchers, and Seminary’s concerning about research is what Ayatollah Ameli has always accentuated.

Students who are claimed to know Islam with spreading Quran’s words as the pivot of their work must do their best in research field that is often a long-term but fruitful project, and hence bear their responsibilities in Seminary.
